Couples Therapy
“Love doesn’t just sit there like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; remade all the time, made new.”
– Ursula K. Le Guin
Is your heart in distress? Has conflict or distance wounded you, leaving a mass of confusing strands of emotions and thoughts. Do you and your partner find yourselves lost in moments of disconnection? Do you find your heart caught on the same emotional hooks with your partner, over and over again, no matter what the topic? Are there nagging knots you just can’t seem to untie, to find solutions for? Do you feel alone, broken and cut off from the one who matters most?
Together, we can find the golden thread, re-weave and renew the connection, a full connection in love. I support your engaged exchanges and use dynamic approaches that honor your journey, your strengths, and your gifts.
I am honored to be with you on the journey. As a process coach, I help you both find new ways of interacting that overcome obstacles. You discover new pathways to deepening connection. For an orientation to this work, see Dr. Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT). I invite you to call, text or set up a free 30-minute discovery Zoom call to get started.
“We don’t heal in isolation; we heal in connection.”
– Esther Perel
Our Process
I’ve been working with couples for more than 15 years, using EFCT. I help people work at the level of their comfort to sit with their deeper vulnerable emotions in their window of tolerance. How does this heal?
Healing happens when couples begin to connect the dots between these deeper vulnerable emotions and the moves they make to protect themselves. These unconscious patterns of feelings thoughts and behaviors unintentionally define their dance with their partner. And when in moments of disconnection, these couples are able to share these deeper experiences with their partner, I’ve seen over and over, how it brings couples back to a secure connection.
Ultimately it’s your willingness to be present to your inner feelings that starts to make connection possible, and I’m there to help you step into this new dynamic connection with support.
The healing process is about becoming more conscious of what is running you and your partner, and an ability to respond with choice.
If we can heal relationships, we can create relationships that heal.”
